Biography

”As a Grand Challenge Scholar, I built upon my engineering education - B.S. Biomedical Engineering, M.S. Mechanical Engineering - by pursuing diverse experiences outside of the classroom. With GCSP as a guide, I conducted cardiovascular tissue engineering research at the Laboratory for Living Systems Engineering, minored in Art History to explore societal factors and human design, co-founded a social entrepreneurship venture called FlexSpecs, studied abroad in France and Australia, and participated in STEM outreach through Society of Women Engineers. I have continued pursuing many of these passions as a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Southern California, and have expanded my interest in the science policy space as President of Graduate Student Government. After completing my doctorate degree, I intend to continue tackling the Grand Challenges of Engineering Better Medicines and Engineering the Tools of Scientific Discovery in industry by translating research and innovation into real, impactful products.”
